Cally Road Tube

In December 2015, Transport for London (TfL) announced plans to replace the two lifts at Caledonian Road tube station, which would have resulted in the closure of the station for 8 months from March 14  until the end of 2016.

Islington Council opposed the closure and instead proposed that the lifts be replaced one at a time, allowing the station to remain open.

After the Council issued legal proceedings, TfL agreed to withdraw and reconsider its proposals.

But we need to keep the pressure on, so that TfL makes the correct decision.

Caledonian Road Tube Station

In December 2015, Transport for London (TfL) announced plans to replace the two lifts at Caledonian Road tube station, which would have resulted in the closure of the station for 8 months from March 14  until the end of 2016.

Islington Council opposed the closure and instead proposed that the lifts be replaced one at a time, allowing the station to remain open.

We the undersigned request that TfL repair one lift at time to keep the station open.

Please consider your customers, both young and old, and update the lifts one at a time, which is surely possible.

Well done so far. It was a very narrow minded decision to close both lifts at the same time.

As a person with disabilities I would really struggle to get to my medical appointments should Caledonian Road station be closed. Yes, there are buses, but this is not suitable for my needs as this would mean extra changes and longer journey times, which would stupidly impact my ability to get where I need to go. There is no reason for TfL to close the station, other than their own financial gain.

Don’t close Cally Tube for the lift upgrades. Do one lift at the time.

Most of my friends have pushchairs and small children . So the lifts are essential . Closing the tube will put an extra 20-30 mins on my travel to work .

1 lift to remain open is the best option.

Typical! Common sense out the window as usual, when money is involved.

Their plan is unethical and not people oriented !!!

The repairs can be carried out without closing the station. TfL can and must take the needs of passengers into account. Don’t close the station!
