Cally Road Tube

Caledonian_Road_stn_roundel.JPG

In December 2015, Transport for London (TfL) announced plans to replace the two lifts at Caledonian Road tube station, which would have resulted in the closure of the station for 8 months from March 14  until the end of 2016.

Islington Council opposed the closure and instead proposed that the lifts be replaced one at a time, allowing the station to remain open.

After the Council issued legal proceedings, TfL agreed to withdraw and reconsider its proposals.

But we need to keep the pressure on, so that TfL makes the correct decision.

My little brother and sister have to take the train to school in the morning, I need to go to work, this isn’t fair on people or local business that have been based around caledonian road station for years. Also Arsenals games get even busier and you need cally station. It shouldn’t require complete closure for 8 months to repair lifts, there is even a staircase!!

This will be disastrous for local stations that will be over-burdened, particularly on Arsenal game days. It’s enough to make me regret buying here.

it’s a ridiculous inconvenience for absolutely no good reason when there are other elevator shafts and the ones that are there work fine. jobs for the boys, & screw everyone else – no thanks.

The proposal seems to be entirely for the convenience of everyone except the users – who should be the most important consideration!

We live opposite the station with two young children. Step-free tube access is pretty crucial for us.

I use this station to get to work every day. Closure will impact many commuters every day, and increase pressure on Holloway Road and King’s Cross stations. Keeping one lift open, and having the stairs available seems like a perfectly viable option!

This tube station is very important – I use it regularly. Please consider options other than full closure. Thank you.
