Four years after the collapse of Islington’s Citizens Advice Bureau under the previous Liberal Democrat administration, Islington Labour is proud to open a new CAB.
Cllr Catherine West, Leader of Islington Council, said:
“The CAB’s return to Islington with a high street presence hasn’t come a day too soon.
“We’ve found the money and space to bring the service back because we want residents to have the very best advice possible in the face of the harshest government cuts any of us have ever seen.
“We’re expecting CAB staff to be very busy with both drop-ins and casework and are as thrilled as they are about their future helping residents in Islington.”
All about the Citizens Advice Bureau
The new CAB is open to all residents and offers free, independent and confidential advice to resolve problems with issues such as:
Debt
Benefits
Housing
Employment
Discrimination and many more issues
Although funded by Islington Council and based at the council’s offices at 222 Upper Street the CAB is totally independent.
It is a fundamental principle of CABs that they remain independent, impartial and confidential.
Like all local CABs the bureau is a registered charity affiliated to the national Citizens Advice body and run by fully trained paid and volunteer staff.
The CAB service is open from 9.30am-4.30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and from 1pm to 8pm on Thursday.
If you need immediate advice you can call the Islington Citizens Advice service on 0844 856 3537.
