Standing up for Islington

Islington is one community that is home to people of all backgrounds, including around 30,000 people from countries in the European Union. They are our friends, family and neighbours.

They make a huge contribution to our vibrant and diverse community, and many work in vital jobs that support our daily life, such as in the NHS.

Our friends, family and neighbours, who are an essential part of our community, are being used by the Tory Government as bargaining chips in the Brexit negotiations.

We, the undersigned, call for the Tory Government to:

  • Immediately guarantee the full rights of all EU citizens currently living in Islington
  • Stop using our friends, family and neighbours as bargaining chips in the Brexit negotiations
  • Guarantee that EU citizens’ rights will not be affected in the event of no Brexit deal being agreed

I felt that the Tories treated me like a class B human being only because I’m not British.. Their abuse of power has to end cause it transformed London into a money-hungry dark pit rather than the beautiful, vibrant and culture-rich melting-pot I had fallen in love with although I come from the most beautiful city in the world, Rome. Would anyone among the Tories like to be treated with similar disrespect in Spain or Tuscany just because they are British?

Don’t let greed win. Stop the Tories and restore the beauty of London. Don’t let power and money hungry Tories ruin it all for everyone. Get them out and let love for fellow humans prevail.

I’d be even more supportive if Labour would oppose Brexit altogether as it was not a democratic decision

Wrong to role back law. They came with good will, contribute to UK economy.

Why should they be use as bargaining tools to get what the Brexiteer want.
