Councillor Theresa Debono

 

 

 

Theresa has represented Highbury West as a ward councillor since 2005 and served as Islington’s first Maltese-born Mayor in 2014/15. Theresa works for Imperial College as a HR Manager, and for many years served as a Trustee at Elizabeth House community centre in Highbury. She is on the board of the Food Bank, which was a charity she supported as Mayor. Theresa is also Chair of the Children’s Services Scrutiny Committee. In her spare time Theresa enjoys looking after her family, travelling and reading.

Councillor Bashir Ibrahim

Bashir was born and raised in Islington and has lived in Highbury West since the age of 3, playing an active role in local campaigning from a young age. As well as being a Governor at Pakeman Primary School, Bashir volunteers as a local Covid-19 Health Champion, supporting the Council in developing and relaying important messages to the local community. He is a member of the Council’s Planning and Policy and Performance Scrutiny committees.

Councillor Roulin Khondoker

Roulin was elected as a councillor for Highbury West ward in 2018, and was born and raised in Islington. Roulin works as an environmental science advisor and volunteers in her spare time with Islington Age UK and Greenpeace Islington. Roulin is also Vice Chair of the Environment and Regeneration Scrutiny Committee in the Town Hall, and serves as a school governor at Ambler Primary School.
