Councillor Janet Burgess
Janet Burgess has represented Junction ward for 17 years and has served as the full time Executive Member for Health & Adult Social Services since 2010. She has lived in Islington for thirty years and spent most of her working life as an assistant to various Labour MPs. Currently Janet is Chair of Governors at Hargrave Park Primary School, and a Trustee of the Cloudesley Trust and Whittington Park Community Centre. Janet is married and has three adult sons.

Councillor Kaya Comer-Schwartz
Kaya has represented Junction Ward since 2013, and was born and raised in Islington. Kaya was appointed Executive Member for Children, Young People and Families in 2019, previously serving as Executive Member for Community Development. Kaya’s professional background is in the charitable sector, and she has worked for the Centre for Mental Health, Shelter and World Jewish Relief. Kaya sits on the Executive of London Council’s Grants Committee and the National Living Wage Friendly Funders Steering Group. Kaya is also a member of the Archway Town Centre Business group.

Councillor Sheila Chapman
Sheila was elected councillor for Junction ward in 2018 and lives in the ward with her partner and three young children. Sheila is an independent monitor at HMP Pentonville and a governor of Acland Burghley School. She has worked for 20 years as a solicitor and sits on the executive of the Fabian Women’s Network. Sheila is a writer and recently won the Bridport Prize for first novel. She enjoys the theatre, running and swimming on Hampstead Heath.
