The Tory cost of living crisis is having a real impact on people in Islington.

But with inflation at its highest level in 41 years, wages stagnating and living standards projected to fall by 7% over the next two years, the Tory Government has so far failed to offer the vital support people need.

Islington Labour is calling on the Government to immediately extend cost of living support to local people on Schools, Welfare and Wages.

On schools, we are calling on the Government to extend Islington’s existing free school meals offer by rolling them out nationwide, for all young people up to the age of 18, so that single child in the country has access to at least one warm, nutritious meal every day.

On welfare, Islington Labour are calling on the Government to remove the benefit cap so that people get the support they need and are entitled to.

On wages, we are demanding the implementation of the real London Living Wage, to ensure working people are paid enough to live on.
