Freightliners Farm is an essential community hub at the heart of Islington. The city farm is home to many different animals such as sheep, pigs, and chickens.

At present the farm provides an essential bridge between people and their environment as well as allowing families to escape the hustle and bustle of busy, inner- London life.

However, the farm has recently been in trouble and under threat of closure.

Islington Labour Councillors recognise the importance of the farm to the local community and are committed to doing all they can to keep the farm open for use by people from Islington and beyond. This is why Councillors from across the borough have agreed to use funding secured from local property developments to save the farm. Without this support, the farm would be under threat of closure.

Councillors Ilkay Cinko-Oner, Heather Staff and Nurullah Turan, ward councillors for Laycock, said: “Living in a city like London can cause a disconnect between residents and the environment. Freightliners Farm provides an essential bridge between people and nature.

“For 50 years Freightliners city farm has been a place of sanctuary, it provides much needed rest for many of us in the borough and a vital connection to nature. We love the farm and those who work there. We will continue to work with the farm to see it remains at the heart of our community.”
