New Council Executive members - Cllr Santiago Bell-Bradford, Cllr Roulin Khondoker, Cllr John Woolf

Following the landslide local election victory earlier this month, Council Leader Kaya Comer-Schwartz has announced the new Executive Team to take Islington’s Labour-run Council forwards and deliver on our vision of fairer, safer, greener borough.

The new team are:

Council Leader – Cllr Kaya Comer-Schwartz

Executive Member for Finance, Planning and Performance and Deputy Leader – Cllr Diarmaid Ward

Executive Member for Homes and Communities – Cllr Una O’Halloran

Executive Member for Environment, Air Quality & Transport – Cllr Rowena Champion

Executive Member for Community Safety – Cllr John Woolf

Executive Member for Inclusive Economy and Jobs – Cllr Santiago Bell-Bradford

Executive Member for Health and Social Care – Cllr Nurullah Turan

Executive Member for Children, Young People & Families – Cllr Michelline Safi Ngongo

Executive Member for Equalities, Culture & Inclusion – Cllr Roulin Khondoker

Starting in their new roles today, our new Executive will get straight to work, delivering on the promises set out in our manifesto and building on the successes of the past four years – raising wages locally, building new Council homes, helping thousands of people into good work, tackling the climate emergency , and giving our young people the very best start in life.

Welcoming our new Executive Team, Cllr Kaya Comer-Schwartz described them as “perfectly placed to deliver for Islington” adding that “I am extremely excited to welcome Cllrs Woolf, Bell-Bradford and Khondoker to the Executive and greatly look forward to working together.”

Paying tribute to the outgoing Executive, Kaya said that she was “incredibly grateful to former Executive members Sue Lukes, Cllr Asima Shaikh and Cllr Satnam Gill, and I thank them for their tireless efforts for the people of Islington.”

Kaya also expressed her gratitude to local people for their support, and for once again placing their trust in Islington Labour as we continue to make our borough a more equal place.
