Bunhill & Clerkenwell ward councillors opposing the closure of Old Street Crown Post Office

The Post Office has announced proposals to close Old Street Crown Post Office.

Islington Labour is calling for the plans to be dropped and for the post office to be saved.

Post offices offer local people vital services that are central to their everyday lives. From accessing social security support, to applying for passports and posting parcels – post offices are incredibly highly valued by many people.

The Old Street Crown Post Office offers the full range of services that local people rely on. It is a busy branch that meets the needs of thousands of local people every year. We are therefore extremely concerned to learn about the proposal to close the post office, which sits at the heart of the local community.

The Post Office is proposing to close the existing purpose-built Old Street Crown Post Office and to relocate services into the Co-op retail store at 185 Old Street.

The Post Office is consulting on their plans until 2nd October and you can complete the Post Office’s consultation here.
