Councillor Rakhia Ismail
Rakhia has represented Holloway ward since 2012 and was Executive Member for Environment and the Voluntary Sector between 2013 and 2015. In 2001 Rakhia founded a charity supporting hard to reach women and mothers, and in 2010 she won the EC1 Teacher of the Year Award. Rakhia is currently serving as Deputy Mayor of Islington, and as a school governor at Central Foundation School.
Councillor Paul Smith
Paul Smith was first elected as a Councillor for Holloway ward in 2006 and has been the Deputy Leader of the Labour Group since his election. Paul served as Executive Member for the Environment 2010 to 2013, when he bought waste services in-house and established the first Council run energy generation plant at Bunhill. Locally, Paul is most proud of keeping Caledonian Road tube open when it was threatened with an 8 month closure, and securing investment in public facilities for Caledonian Park. Paul is currently Chair of the Pensions Board.
Councillor Diarmaid Ward
Diarmaid was first elected as a councillor for Holloway in 2014. Diarmaid has served as the full time Executive Member for Housing and Development since 2016. Diarmaid has served as a School Governor at St Andrew’s Primary School since 2013. In his spare time, Diarmaid is also a keen runner, and completed the London Marathon in 2012 to raise funds for Oxfam, and the 2013 Belfast Marathon to raise funds for Care for Cancer.
